What is the role of a life coach in general?
Life coaches aid their clients in improving personal and business relationships and overall daily life. The role of a coach is to help the client to clarify their goals and identify obstacles, whether external or internal, that may be holding them back. A strategic process or strategy is then implemented to overcome those obstacles.
According to the International Coaching Federation (ICF), coaching is partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.
What makes a great coach?
A great coach is certified and has gone through extensive training through an institution that has been accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). A great coach does provide answers or lead discussions. They know how to hold space for the client, are intuitive and are able to ask empowering questions to help the client break through barriers and discover their highest potential.
Why shouldn’t i feel nervous about opening up to a coach?
It’s understandable to feel a bit apprehensive about opening up to a coach about what could at times be personal information. Rest assured that the coach will hold the space for you, providing a comfortable environment for you discuss your goals and challenges. There is never any judgment or attachment and information is strictly confidential and never shared without permission.
what is the difference between life coaching and therapy?
Therapy focuses on mental health. Therapists look to what happened in an individual’s past that brought them to their present state. Life coaching focuses on goals. Therapy focuses primarily on mental health and emotional healing while coaching focuses on the now and focusing on identifying and achieving goals.
what happens during a coaching session?
During each session we will recap on the actions set and achieved from the last session and look at general progress and successes. We will then set a ‘session goal’ to clearly set out what you want to achieve by the end of the day’s session. We then explore where you are at the moment with that particular goal; what you have tried; what has worked and any obstacles you have come across along the way. We then explore all the possible options in achieving that goal, using different techniques to extract all available options that you may have never thought of before. Lastly and most importantly, we look at what actions you want to set yourself from the list of options to achieve that session’s goal.
where does coaching take place?
Coaching takes place either by phone, where the client phones the coach or via Zoom. We can also do face to face sessions if you are within Burlington County. Typically, clients choose phone sessions as they are most convenient and flexible around their schedule.
